The debate is organised during the “Ice Breaking Fantasies” Artistic Research Festival.
Venue: Kuva/Tila Gallery, Merimiehenkatu 36, Helsinki
Time: Tuesday, September 23, 2014, 5-9 pm
How could artists as practitioners come in terms with such events like the war in Ukraina or in Palestine? How could each and one of us, in his or her context, articulate meaningfully his or her agency, action and choices in relation to these kinds of global events? How to reach out beyond propaganda and journalism, which seems to fill each moment and each vacuum with anxiety, mess and implicit provocation towards war? The discussion will start with the affective, corporeal, emotional and discursive responses and expressions. There of, we proceed towards more elaborated modes of thinking and strategic models, that any one could apply in his or her artistic activity.
Come! Provoke! Propose!
